VoIP Home Phones UK: Make Calls Over the Internet!
What is an IP or VoIP Phone UK?
VoIP phones connect directly to your broadband network to allow phone communication directly over the internet. With analogue and digital telephone lines gradually being phased out by December 2025, it is more important than ever to prepare your home or business for this switch.
What are the benefits of a VoIP Home Phone UK?
There are a number of benefits that come with a new VoIP phone, including cost saving benefits, increased functionality for additional lines, and greater flexibility to be out of the office.
-
Cost saving: VoIP phone calls are considerably cheaper than traditional landline calls. By making calls over the internet you can get cheaper rates making calls to landlines or numbers abroad. This also works if your company has offices in multiple countries, as you can link up your VoIP phones to create an internal network, allowing you to make calls to offices abroad completely free.
-
Grow with your business: As your business grows you may require more phone lines over time. Using a VoIP phone system means that new lines can be added and connected easily, without the unnecessary hassle of connecting additional analogue phone lines to accommodate a growing team.
-
Access your number from anywhere: VoIP numbers simply assign an extension number to different employees, rather than a completely new number, meaning you can access your office phone number from your mobile using the Virtual Landline app. Whether you are working abroad, travelling for a meeting, or are simply out of the office, never miss a call again with your new VoIP number.
Can I Plug in a VoIP Phone Into My Router?
The majority of modern routers will have an ethernet port, which you can connect your VoIP phone directly into. Plugging a device into your router’s ethernet port is the best way to get reliable internet speeds without relying on a wireless connection.
Most VoIP phones can be simply installed into an internet router. We advise that before purchasing your phone that you double-check that both your router and phone are eligible for this type of connection.
Can a VoIP phone be used as a landline?
Yes, a VOIP can be used as a landline for any home or business. Simply setup your VoIP through a provider, such as Virtual Landline and redirect your new virtual number to a VoIP-friendly handset.
Can you get VoIP for free UK?
VoIP virtual numbers are not free throughout the UK, but they can save you money when compared to a traditional landline. As VoIPs use the internet, the need for the laying of phone cables is completely removed, removing the need of an installation fee.
Here at Virtual Landline, we offer a monthly rolling contract that starts from just £4.50 per month.
